The purpose of the Diploma is to provide recognition for those who wish to develop their own abilities in teaching and assessing learners competently in a regulated environment.
Learners who successfully complete this qualification will take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Whilst doing this, candidates will embed theories and principles in Early learning and Childcare and demonstrate them in their practice.
- The qualification has been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression.
- This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 and above. There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Teaching. Centres are responsible for ensuring that this qualification is appropriate for the age and ability of learners. Applicants need to demonstrate the potential to study at minimum academic Level 5 – the same level of study as the second year of a degree course.
- There is also requirement for a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice which must include working with groups and different practice requirements for each unit in this qualification.
The Level 5 Diploma in Early learning and Childcare is a Level 5 qualification requiring 120 credits in total for learners to achieve the qualification.
